Derby Day   

            The bluebird spoke to me from the fencepost

                  He could not see

                          the hidden hole

                                  his house  turned to the barn

                                           by the winter wind

         I climbed down from the tractor

                 turned the bluebird’s house

                          toward the morning sun

         The bluebird thanked me

whistled and chirped

         I told my friends

                 as we watched the Derby

                          first I saw an oriole

                                  then a bluebird spoke to me

         Doc said,

we’ll have to watch him

I think he’s crazy
